Interaction
(págs.32-33)
We
receive information through our senses and we react to them.
1. Senses.
The
information we receive through our senses is called STIMULUS and it travels to
our brain through our nerves.
-
Taste: allows us to
identify different flavours.
-
Smell: allows us to
smell odours.
-
Hearing: we understand
sounds
-
Sight: we understand
the color, shape and size of and object.
-
Touch: we know the
temperature of an object and what it feels like.
2. The nervous
system
It
sends information through a pathway of nerves to different parts of the body.
The
brain is the central part of the nervous system, it organises this information and makes decisions.
3. The musculoskeletal
system
It
receives messages from the brain that tell our body to move.
Bones
and muscles belong to it.
-
Involuntary
responses or reflex actions: we react to things very
quickly, without thinking.
-
Voluntary
responses: actions
we think about and choose to do.

Relación
Recibimos
Respuestas
involuntarias o actos reflejos: reaccionamos a las
cosas muy rápido, sin pensar.
Respuestas
voluntarias: acciones que pensamos y elegimos
hacer.
4.
Reproduction (págs.34-35)
The
female reproductive system
-
ovaries:
they produce eggs, there are two and they are connected to the uterus.
-
uterus/womb:
where the baby develops until it is born.
-
vagina:
is a tube that leads from the uterus to the outside of the body.
-
vulva:
is the external part.
The
male reproductive system
-
testes:
two oval shaped external organs. They produce sperm.
- penis:
is an external organ.
-
urethra: is
a tube inside the penis that carries urine from the bladder. It also carries
semen, which is a mixture of fluids and sperm.
Pregnancy
and delivery
It
lasts 9 months. The baby begins life inside the uterus as a tiny being called a
foetus.
The
baby grows inside an amniotic sac,
which contains a liquid that keeps it warm and protects it from any knocks.
The
baby is joined to its mother by an umbilical
cord, this is how it gets its food and oxygen during pregnancy.
After
birth, the umbilical cord is cut and the baby begins to breathe by itself.
When
the baby is fully developed, the mother gives birth. This phase is called the
delivery.
4. Reproducción
Sistema
reproductor femenino
-
ovarios:
