The
circulatory system (págs.54-55)
It
is made up of 3 parts: blood, blood vessels and the heart.
1. The heart pumps blood around the body through the
blood vessels.
2. Blood vessels transport the blood
around the body. There are 3 types: arteries, veins and capillaires.
-
Capillaires are very thin vessels that connect the
arteries and veins.
-
Arteries and veins carry blood from the rest of the body
to the heart.
3. Blood is a red liquid
that contains the nutrients and oxygen that our body needs. It also carries the
unwanted waste substances that our bodies need to remove.
* The heartbeat
- the heart relaxes and fills up
with blood coming from the veins.
- the heart contracts and pushes
blood through the arteries to the rest of the body.
The respiratory system
It
is made up of:
-
Airway. Air enters and exits the body through the
airway. It contains the nasal cavity, pharinx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and
bronchioles.
-
Lungs. They are two spongy organs that are protected by
the rib cage. The lungs are the place where respiration takes place.
Stages of respiration
-
Inhalation: the diaphragm contracts, allowing the lungs to get bigger
and fill up with air from the mouth and nose.
-
Gas exchange: oxygen that we breathe in passes through the alveoli into
the blood. At the same time, carbon dioxide passes from the blood and into the
lungs.
-
Exhalation: The diaphragm relaxes, causing the lungs to get smaller and
push carbón dioxide out of the bod
El sistema respiratorio
Está
formado por:
-
nasal, faringe, laringe, tráquea, bronquios y bronquiolos.
-
Pulmones.
